Legends Of The Fann Mountains

Begin your day early with a drive from Samarkand towards Panjakent. Our driver will meet you at the border and take you to Seven Lakes. They are one of Central Asia's most popular hiking areas. Seven lakes are located in the Fann Mountains, in the gorge of the Shing River. The lowest is situated at an altitude of 1640 meters above sea level, and the highest at around 2400 meters. The color of the lakes is pretty and different. Lunch will be at the guesthouse "Jumabhoy". After lunch, you will walk to the last lake, Hazorchashma, approximately 10 km away. You will have to go back along the same road that you came on earlier.

Today, you will drive to the second-largest lake in the Fan Mountain complex, Kulikalon. It is located at an altitude of about 2800 m. Your next stop will be the Artush Alpinist camp. From here to the Kulikalon Lake takes about 3 hours to walk. After a short walk around the lake, you head down another road where you can see Chukurak Lake along the way.

After breakfast, you will drive to Alauddin Lakes. The Lakes, lying at an altitude of 2800 m, are considered one of the most beautiful lakes of the Fan Mountains. Evergreen fir trees, mountains with their tops touching the sky, and peaks covered with eternal snow leave their reflections not only in the lake but also in the hearts of people who visit these places. Later, you will rest at the Vertical Alpine Camp for a little while and slowly walk to the lake, for about 30 minutes.

Depart Seven Lakes and travel to Iskandarkul (approximately 3 hours' drive) through spectacular mountain scenery. It's one of the most beautiful lakes in Tajikistan at an altitude of 2195 m. Lake Iskandarkul was named after Alexander the Great, who allegedly visited here on his way from Central Asia to India. After arrival at the lake, you will go for a walk along its shores. This is a fantastic place to rest. You will then hike to see a waterfall, called the “Fann Niagara” that falls from 38 meters high. You will also visit Kuli Moron (Snakes Lake). After visiting Lake Iskanderkul, you will go to the village of Saritag, and from there you will go up the river Saritag. Highlights: riverside views, campsites (“Camp Archa”: The Wood, The Tree, The Rock, The Gorge), scenic river viewpoint.
